Use 911 for an emergency. For other needs, choose the source that holds the type of record involved:
- For a booking report or photograph, use the county arrest and records path and submit a narrow FOIA request to the sheriff or arresting agency.
- For current local custody, release, or transfer, call corrections or use Michigan VINELink notifications.
- For an arraignment or later case outcome, contact the 97th District Court at the county courthouse, 401 East Houghton Avenue.
- For a city police report, contact Houghton City Police, Hancock Police, or Laurium Police according to the arresting agency.
- For sentenced state-prison custody, parole, or probation, use the Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS search.
- For federal or immigration detention, use the appropriate Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator.
